Collaboration with Sahaba Youth Center

HAEEDS has also been proud to work alongside Sahaba Youth Centre in supporting young people through meaningful, community-based programming. Sahaba Youth Centre aims to empower youth through religious values while providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for learning and growth. This shared commitment makes the partnership a natural fit, as both organizations recognize the importance of giving youth a strong foundation built on identity, belonging, guidance, and support.

Through this collaboration, youth are encouraged to grow not only socially and emotionally, but also intellectually and personally.

Youth Basketball Tournament

In August 2025, HAEEDS helped organize a U13 youth basketball tournament that brought together children from the Somali and broader East African communities in Edmonton for a day of sports, fun, and connection. The tournament was created as an inclusive community event where all youth were welcome to participate, regardless of background or skill level. More than just a basketball event, it provided young people with a chance to build friendships, stay active, and experience a strong sense of belonging in a positive and supportive environment

This tournament was made possible through collaboration with other community and non-profit organizations, including Edmonton Islamic Academy.

The event reflected HAEEDS’ commitment to supporting young people through programs that promote confidence, inclusion, teamwork, and community spirit.

Provincial Collaboration

HAEEDS works with the Province of Alberta to help bring forward the concerns, needs, and priorities of the communities it serves to government officials and decision-makers. By maintaining relationships with public institutions and engaging in ongoing dialogue, HAEEDS helps ensure that the voices of community members are heard in conversations about programs, services, and policies that affect their daily lives.
